The Brown Bear is mainly found in Eurasia and North America. It can weigh from 300 to 780 kilograms and is the largest land based predator in world. There are about 200 000 Brown Bears left in the world and it is listed on the Least Concern list by the IUCN. The Brown Bear's scientific name is Urus Arctos. Brown Bears like living in forests and mountains and are the mst widely distributed bear in the world. Brown Bears eat about 40 kilograms offood each day and before they go into hibernation they may weigh up to twice as much as they normally wood in spring.Unfortunately in some places the Brown Bear is endangered. This is mainly caused because people kill them for rugs, coats or because the may of been thought as a threat and shot down as protection. - Adam
